Does it seem like everyone is getting a little too offended about the Superbowl commercials? It seems like no matter what commercial was put out it offends some person or group…and I find that offensive? Does that mean they will stop now? Doubtful.
It honestly seems like people feel if they don’t have something to cry about then they will never be noticed…give me a break.
But I digress… well not quite.
Take this snickers ad for example…
it’s fairly funny, not really one of my favorites, but it has “offended: lots of people..”and been pulled from the air.
or take the Kevin Federline/Nationwide ad which I though was quite humorous, but it began to stir up controversy even before it had been played on the air!
Then there is this guy who was offended evidentially because companies where cashing in on offensive past events, and issues that as Seinfeld would say “Should we be talking about this?”
and there are more… the GM ad where a robot drop a bolt then has a dream where he contemplates suicide has been drawing criticism.
Another article (which I am having trouble finding again) went as far as to say that if a child commits suicide after watching this commercial the parents should sue GM… sheesh. Ignorance is rampant it seems.
And I could go on it seems…. but instead I will make some predictions about who will get their panties (no offense ladies) in a wad next…
The Budweiser Auctioneer Wedding commercial…. well women will get offended because it’s a special day we shouldn’t make fun of…or maybe homosexuals because it portrays marriage…
The FexEx Office on the Moon… this will offend astronauts and well probably DHL and UPS because they didn’t get a commercial spot.
godaddy.com..now they actually had several commercials rejected. However you gotta respect their marketing dept and Bob Parsons because offensive or not, they get results. Either way…this commercial will offend men…well men who don’t work in their marketing department anyways.
The Taco Bell commercial… which will undoubtedly offend Animal rights activists… and maybe even Ricardo Montalban depending if he got paid for the use of his name or not.
Emerald Nuts:Robert Goulet… well now thats just funny..stupid funny..but funny… I’m sure someone is offended… and maybe squirrels.
there is the Bud Light/Hitchhiker ad…. this will definitely upset serial killers..though no one will contest their thought because they are, in fact, serial killers…
There is the Sprint:Connectile Dysfunction commercial…this ad will probably offend people with ED, women with husbands with ED, anyone named ED, Mr. Ed and men who for some odd reason wish they had ED….
the Bud Light Slapping… this will only offend people who get slapped as a result…or those who already do this and now have their social edge.
The game it’s self I am sure offended Bears fans and with as little talk as the Superbowl itself got versus how much press the commercial got…. it had to be said.
and my final prediction.. the Bud Light: Paper, Rock , Scissors commercial… which must be shown and not just linked.
one of the funniest commercial of the bowl, though it’s tasteless insensitivity for those who adore the game of Paper, Rock, Scissors had shot us straight through the heart. Also this will probably offend those who have rock farms, make, eat or write on paper, barbers, hair-dressers, school and art teachers, fans of the movie Edward Scissor Hands, and those of you with rocks for brains…which, ironically enough, were already offended at some point during this blog or by a Superbowl ad.
